Ah, yes, the Great American Experiment: a bold attempt to fuse freedom with democracy, liberty with equality, and education with civic participation.
Only one problem.
A not-insignificant portion of our population is functionally stupid.
And no, I don’t mean poor. I don’t mean undereducated. I’m not talking about people struggling with literacy or navigating systems built to exploit them. I mean people who are willfully, aggressively, and proudly incapable of separating fact from fiction—people who treat conspiracy theories like scripture and science like sorcery.
People who walk through reality with blinders strapped to their heads by Fox News and Facebook memes... and then vote accordingly.
🧨 This Isn’t a Joke. It’s a National Emergency.
We are governed by the choices of millions of Americans who genuinely believe:
The 2020 election was stolen because a guy in a buffalo hat said so.
Vaccines are mind control tools designed by Bill Gates.
Trump was “sent by God” to destroy the deep state (which apparently includes librarians).
Climate change is a hoax, but Jewish space lasers are real.
Every fact they don’t like is “fake news,” and every delusion that flatters them is gospel.
You can’t have a functioning democracy when a quarter of your electorate thinks facts are optional.
You can’t have national conversations when one side believes COVID is real and the other thinks it's a liberal hoax to make Trump look bad.
And you sure as hell can’t move forward when millions are stuck in 1953, clinging to white grievance politics and Cold War fantasies while scrolling through QAnon group chats on their TrumpPhones.
🎯 Stupidity as a Political Identity
This isn’t just a problem of low information—it’s a matter of deliberate disinformation addiction. These people don’t want to know better. They want to feel right.
They crave the dopamine hit of righteous rage and simplistic answers. And right-wing operatives, evangelical grifters, and billionaire propagandists know it.
They’ve built an entire political strategy around it:
Rewriting textbooks to erase Black history
Pushing the Big Lie while suppressing the vote
Spreading “groomer” panic to justify book bans
Running campaigns on “owning the libs,” not solving problems
We’re not dealing with people who can be persuaded. We’re dealing with people who have turned stupidity into a lifestyle brand.
🗳️ These People Vote—And That’s the Problem
If this were just some online fringe, we could ignore it. But it’s not.
These people show up. They vote. They run for office. And they win—because their districts are just as brain-poisoned as they are.
That’s how we got:
Marjorie Taylor Greene, who thinks Jewish space lasers cause wildfires
Ron Johnson, who said mouthwash kills COVID
Tommy Tuberville, who doesn’t know what the three branches of government are
Donald Trump, the Pied Piper of Proud Idiots, still worshipped by millions despite a criminal record, declining health, and a brain full of wet cement
This isn’t the “silent majority.” It’s the loud, irrational, conspiracy-obsessed minority that hijacked one of America’s two political parties—and is dragging the country backward at breakneck speed.
🔥 If You’re Still Waiting for Them to “Wake Up,” You’re Delusional
We’ve tried facts. We’ve tried logic. We’ve tried shame. None of it works.
Because stupidity, once embraced as a cultural identity, becomes self-reinforcing. These people don’t want the truth. They want a reality show where they’re always the hero and liberals are always the enemy.
They’re not sleepwalking.
They’re marching:
To school board meetings to scream at librarians
To rallies with rifles and Nazi tattoos
To voting booths to elect fascists
To Congress to rewrite the laws of reality
They’re not waking up. They’re mobilizing. And if you’re still waiting for the mythical “decent conservative” to stop them, you’re already five steps behind.
🚨 We Have to Outnumber the Idiots—Or They’ll Win
There is only one way forward: overwhelm them. Outorganize. Outvote. Outlast.
We cannot keep pretending that bipartisanship is possible with people who think Joe Biden is a Chinese robot and Donald Trump is Jesus with a golf cart.
We cannot keep negotiating with delusion.
We have to treat this like what it is: a domestic insurgency fueled by mass stupidity. And the only way to stop it is to crush it at the ballot box, bury it in civic truth, and rebuild political life around facts, not fantasy.
If you’re still worried about offending these people, grow up. You don’t reason with people who think the Earth is flat. You beat them with truth, solidarity, and relentless turnout.
