Thank you for this essay. It's important and timely. When he was 13 months old, my grandson (now 25) was infected with meningococcal bacteria. His health degraded rapidly from being a little lethargic to being near death in about 4 hours. After 6 months he was released from the hospital, but without his legs or left arm, all lost to the drug resistant disease. I've also lost two adult friends to sepsis infections following what should have been minor surgeries. Our lives depend on modern medicine's ability to provide solutions for what's killing us. I support a fraud-resistant model for applying federal dollars the the efforts of the drug companies working on those answers.
