Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill Is an Economic Death Sentence — And I’m On the List
BY: The Mayor of Funkytown — Patron Saint of Raised Fists, Velvet Ropes, and Calling Bullshit When Bullshit Shows Up Wearing a Diaper
There’s a lie slinking its way through the halls of America like a cheap cologne at a retirement home mixer: that Trump’s “Big Beautiful” economic plan is just tough love for the freeloaders. It’ll only pinch those who “don’t want to work.” That it won’t hurt you or someone you love.
Bullshit.
You know who’s on the receiving end of that economic sledgehammer? I am. A 68-year-old American with a hard history of health problems over the last ten years, a fractured earning capacity, and a life built on resilience, not riches. And I'm not some outlier. I'm one of millions staring down the barrel of Trump’s “pay-up-or-die” tax and benefit rollback scheme. This ain’t policy — it’s cruelty with a press secretary.
Let’s talk brass tacks. Trump’s proposal, quietly attached to his massive tax break handout for billionaires, includes cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and disability programs. You know — the stuff folks like me actually use to stay alive. Not to buy a yacht. Not to funnel dark money into PACs. Just to survive another damn month.
And if you’re thinking, Well, I’m not there yet, let me offer a truth: if you’re lucky, you will be. You’ll age. You’ll ache. You’ll know what it’s like to count every co-pay. And if Trump’s plan rolls through like a tank with a golden bust on the hood, your future—or your parents’, or your neighbors’—is roadkill.
He calls it “making America great again.” I call it robbing the elders blind and leaving them to bleed out while Wall Street lights cigars with your grandkids’ food stamps.
Here’s what’s really going on:
Medicare “savings” = slashing coverage, forcing seniors to pay more for less, or go without entirely.
Social Security “reform” = shrinking monthly checks until retirees can’t afford rent, meds, or a goddamn sandwich.
Disability program cuts = pretending people like me aren’t real, aren’t working as hard as we can, aren’t still fighting for dignity every damn day.
No rise in taxes for billionaires = just one more gold-plated middle finger to working people.
And don’t let the red hat crowd sell you on the myth of “entitlement abuse.” You think Jeff Bezos isn’t gaming the tax system harder than any disabled veteran collecting SSDI? Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill punishes people who’ve already paid into the system for decades, while the donor class uses America like an ATM with no overdraft fee.
Let’s call it what it is: a class war, dressed in a cheap suit and a red tie. And if you think you’re immune, you’re not paying attention.
This is personal. I’m not writing from a pundit's perch — I’m writing from inside the damn storm. I’ve worked. I’ve struggled. I’ve paid in. And now I’m being told that, because I can’t sprint up the capitalist ladder anymore, I’m disposable. That my future is worth less than another billionaire’s seventh yacht deduction.
Well, fuck that. Funkytown was built by the people who kept showing up, even when the system spat in their face. We don’t roll over. We raise hell.
So if you're still clinging to the idea that Trump’s bill won’t touch your world, look again. It touches your parents, your neighbors, and your future. It touches me. And if you care about decency, you better start fighting like hell to stop it.
If you dig the Mayor’s groove, subscribe and share. Funkytown needs more citizens who give a damn.
