When Lies Collapse Under Their Own Weight
By The Mayor of Funkytown — Political Writer, Resistance Organizer, and Exposer of Propaganda
Trump never met a lie he didn’t like. He throws them out like candy at a parade, hoping people will grab one and chew on it without thinking too hard. And sometimes, the lies are so tangled that they collapse under their own weight.
Case in point:
“These files were made up by Comey. They were made up by Obama. They were made up by Biden.”
— Donald J. Trump, remarks to reporters, White House South Lawn
Let’s pause here. If these “files” were all fake, then how do we explain what happened next?
🕸️ The Maxwell-Epstein Problem
Because here’s the thing:
Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison.
Jeffrey Epstein went to prison before that and died in custody.
Dozens of victims testified under oath about what was done to them.
So if it was all “made up,” then what—Maxwell is rotting in a cell over a hoax? The survivors fabricated years of abuse for fun? Judges and juries across multiple trials just… played along?
“I was trafficked for sex, and there were others like me. This wasn’t politics. This was our lives.”
— Epstein survivor, testimony excerpt
The crimes were real. The victims were real. Trump’s excuses are the only thing fabricated here.
📜 The Victims’ Own List
And because the official channels keep failing them, some of the victims are talking about creating their own list of abusers.
Think about the weight of that. Survivors shouldn’t have to do this. It should have been done by the system. But instead, Republicans in Congress are too busy blocking sunlight and playing defense for the powerful.
“If the courts and Congress won’t release the names, then maybe we will.”
— Epstein survivor, in a recent interview
That takes guts. And it’s also a damning indictment of the people who still want to bury the truth.
🚫 Republicans Block the Truth
Here’s the part that really fries me: Republicans actually blocked the release of the Epstein files.
They don’t want us to know who was on those flight logs. They don’t want us to see who was rubbing shoulders with Epstein. And if you’re asking why, the answer is almost too obvious:
“Power protects power. Secrecy is the currency of the corrupt.”
— Legal analyst, on the GOP’s block of Epstein disclosures
So much for the “party of transparency.”
🤯 When I Agree With MTG and Boebert
Now, let me say something I never thought I’d write in my life: I actually found myself agreeing with Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert.
Yep. They voted with Democrats to release the files.
Do I like them? No. Do I trust them? Not even a little. But on this one rare occasion, they were right. And if Trump’s lies are so flimsy that even they broke ranks? Well, that says a lot.
“The American people deserve to know the truth. Every name should come out.”
— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, House floor remarks
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… she’s not wrong.
🔥 The Collapsing Narrative
Here’s where Trump’s story just crumbles:
If it was all fake, why did his own Justice Department prosecute Epstein and Maxwell?
If it was a hoax, why are survivors still coming forward, years later, risking everything to speak?
If it was all “made up,” why are Republicans working so hard to keep the documents locked away?
Trump doesn’t have answers. Just noise.
“When a leader can make people believe absurdities, he can also make them commit atrocities.”
— Voltaire
✊ A Call to Resistance
I’m tired of watching Trump spin webs of lies while survivors are left holding the bag. Aren’t you?
This is about more than fact-checking. It’s about making sure the people with real stories—the victims, the truth-tellers, the whistleblowers—are louder than Trump’s excuses.
