About The Bastard
The human behind The Unredacted Bastard and Lotus Purrspective is a retired American who has spent more than fifty years writing, reporting, and watching power up close.
Before yelling at the news professionally, he:
Served in the United States Air Force, which permanently ruined his tolerance for incompetence dressed up as authority.
Worked as a radio anchor and News Director, living inside daily deadlines and learning exactly how stories get framed — and how much gets left out.
Spent decades as a professional writer, turning complex reality into words for audiences who don’t have time for bullshit.
Put in time as a teacher and paralegal, which means he can both explain the civics and read the fine print.
Went into the political trenches as a press secretary for a state senate candidate and completed a college internship at the state capitol, seeing firsthand how legislation, messaging, and backroom deals really work.
Those years left him with three things: an eye for spin, a low opinion of cults in red and blue, and a stubborn belief that ordinary people deserve clear, unvarnished explanations of what’s being done in their name.
Now retired, he channels all of that into:
The Unredacted Bastard — uncensored, profanity‑laced analysis of American politics and media.
Lotus Purrspective — daily claws‑out commentary from the judgmental cat who lives with him and understands humans a little too well.
If you want someone who’s been in the newsroom, the classroom, the courtroom, and the capitol — and is finally free to say what he actually thinks — you’ve found your bastard.
